I got this book with the intent to be able to read and flip the pages on the ipad while playing. While the book is great to learn the songs it is not so great to read on the kindle app. It felt like a bunch of blurry images and couldn't easily be expand to fit the screen, which made it about impossible to follow along on the ipad.The way the pages are layed out also doesn't lend itself to be able to play along to it either. Too many page flips.All in all I would still purchase the book just for the transcriptions.
Almost 5, perhaps 6 years ago, I've bough Drum Techniques of Rush and its follow up "More Drum...". I really liked these books, since most of the transcriptions therein are almost perfect and helped me a lot, but there are, nonetheless, some (great) flaws: musics like Subdivisions can give nothing but a clue of what is really being played, and other ones suffer from a lack of details. Summing it up: they are extremely worthy if one considers the best transcriptions, but one may want to throw away some pages.Last month I've ordered both 2112 and Moving Pictures' Alfred's Classic Album Editions, which arrived today, and I must say that, from listening to the CDs while reading these books, I really enjoyed what I saw: the transcriptions seem to have been accurately (enough) written and both books seem to maintain their quality throughout their whole. Nevertheless, the writer's choice to omit repeat bars is extremely annoying (I can see no advantage in doing so), as well as his choice to write all the stems upwards; I would say that Wheeler's (drum techniques) writing is better.So, my advice: if you are a drummer, and enjoy Rush, buy them all.
